Midsummer Acting Update
Happy 4th of July!
I hope you all enjoyed some delicious BBQ or some tasty treats in the sun! I caught up on some much needed ZZZ’s this weekend and wanted to let you in on some exciting things that are happening! I realized not everyone is on social media, so be prepared to see a lot of my face for the next few paragraphs…
What’s The Update?
My Name in Laurels!
of my latest films were recognized this past month!! GET OUTTA TOWN! The premiere of Dreams We Share
, in which I play a young refugee caught in the throes of war, earned First Featured Screening
at the Bay Area Film Mixer
, won Best in Festival
at the Bright Idea’s Film Festival
in Concord, and I experienced my first time in laurels as I took home Best Performance
out of several nominees! Most recently, Dreams We Share
was chosen to premier at the Action on Film International Film Festival
here in Los Angeles in September.
My other film, The Painful Side of the Pillow, is a silly short where I play the pretty-in-pink, crime-fighting Pillow Girl. Our film was recognized as an Official Selection at the Kansas City First Friday Film Festival. And if all of that doesn’t make this the best summer ever, both films have miraculously been chosen to premiere at the Austin Revolution Film Festival, which means it’s time for some cowboy boots because we’re going to Texas!
On The Stage Again!
Since returning to Los Angeles, one of my goals was to get back into musical theatre. Well, it didn’t take long! I was recently cast as Snowhite
in the original production by the acclaimed Santa Monica Playhouse, written and produced by Evelyn Rudie and Chris DeCarlo (the former owns a star on Hollywood Boulevard!). I work with an incredibly talented cast and we will be performing every weekend though September.
In The Creator’s Seat
As part of an incredible international actor’s group called Inside Acting
, a few of us in the LA area decided to branch out into a creative working group. We write original scripts and film, edit, and direct our own work. Last week, I directed my first on-camera piece and I will be teaming up with one of our members to try my hand at editing that scene in the next few weeks. We begin producing a short mockumentary I wrote on the home life of superheroes later this month!
Life in Los Angeles
After officially moving back to Los Angeles a little over a month ago, I’ve finally settled into my place by the airport and I am loving the beautiful beach weather and palm trees outside my little window! I recently took on a job teaching science to 1st
graders at the California Science Center’s Hands-On Summer Camp. We’ve been making rockets, baking cakes, and having all sorts of fun. Summer camp ends August 12th
so we shall see where the next Thrival Job adventure takes me!
Since moving to Los Angeles, I feel myself reaching closer towards my goals of becoming full-time actor. I am on purpose and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Stay tuned, and as always, THANK YOU for your constant support, friendship, and love. Have a great summer!
